Totally Pop, and Art
A good soundtrack to.
A good soundtrack to.

I have no idea why Carina is so little know as she is. The three albums I have - “The First Blood Mystery”, “The Disconnection” and “Slow Motion Addict” are brilliant lyrically as well as when she ramps it up voice wise.
She is currently (December) doing an acoustic set around the UK, and I really hope to catch one of those.
Carina Round - “Into My Blood” from the album “The Disconnection”
Carina Round - “Take the Money” from the current album “Slow Motion Addict”
You can buy “Slow Motion Addict” direct from her Amazon store, personally signed no less. Yet another artist selling direct - I love it. Go here and click on the Redtypelink to buy…
(Unfortunately yet another site that has the audio “on” by default. I really hate that)

Lou Rhodes - “Greatness in a Speck of Dust” from the album “Bloom”
Another luscious album from Lou Rhodes, previously the lead voice in Lamb.
Lamb - “Gabriel” from the album “What Sound” - Possibly is in my top 20 of yummy tracks, ever.

The two albums from Imogen are just adictive. “I Megaphone” and “Speak For Yourself” are both five stars on my playlists. You may have heard her from her collaboration with Guy Sigsworth as “Frou Frou” who released the stonkingly good album “Details“.
Imogen Heap - “Candlelight” live in Japan, from the album “iMegaphone”
For those of you not from Japan, look at this video and marvel that they don’t do any “WooHoo’s” while she is playing. How very refreshing.
Frou Frou - “Breathe In” from the album “Details”

I know very little about Josefin Lindh from Sweden, but I was just linked up to her “You Had a Plan” E.P. today, and I really like it.

Go to her website to download the “You Had a Plan” E.P.
Also you can download the “Wishes Unspoken” E.P. from her Last.FM page.
There is a bit more info over at www.indie-mp3.co.uk

A great video from her album “Ecdysis”. It is great to hear something from her solo wise.
You may of heard of her before from her involvement with the band Cibo Mato whose albums “Viva La Women”, and “Stereotype A” are also well worth checking out. Cibo sometimes miss the spot for me, but there are some great tracks in there.
Miho Hatori - “Barracuda” from the album “Ecdysis”

Cibo Mato - “Spoon” from the album “Stereotype A”

Juana Molina - “Elena” from the album “Son”
“Son” is the forth delicious album (that I have) from Juana.
Son translates as “They Are” on my Mac Widget (that would be from Spanish, Juana is from Argentina).
Her sound really confused me at first. How did she get that looping thing going? What was that strange ambient synth noise?
All was revealed when I saw her live in Oxford.
And she is amazing live. Juana is a one (wo)man band. Kicking off samples hitting her guitar or keyboard, playing with the effects boxes and building layers of sound.
Absolutely brilliant.
What I would describe as a perfect Artist. A Totally Creative Girl. 10/10 Juana.

You will fall in love with all of Juana’s music, so go and buy her CD’s, you will not Regret.
You so need these albums:
Segundo
Tres Cosas
Son
Rara
Everyone like drumming right? Throw in the Muppets and that makes great TV.

Nicola Hitchcock - “Cloudy Skies & Rain” from the album “Passive Aggressive”
My copy of “Passive Aggressive” arrived in the post this morning, and what a lovely piece of work it is. Thanks Nicola!
Go and buy “Passive Aggressive” direct from Nicola over at her website.
(If you have not guessed, I am very much in favour of buying direct from the Artist.BDFTA :)
You will have heard Nicola previously in the group Mandalay who produced some true classics.
Mandalay - “Beautiful”

Miss Li - “Why don’t you love me” from the CD “Songs of a Rag Doll”
Her third full album release and Miss Li continues to entertain.
She makes me smile a lot…
Sassy Girl, <3
Miss Li - “Oh Boy” from the CD “Late Night Heartbroken Blues”

All round good girl Caroline has worked with many names (see her website), and I really enjoy her “Brilliant Midnight 2.0″ release.
I tried really hard to like “A Distant Bell” but it is just too hardcore folk for my liking.
The 1995 release “Spirit” is kind of in the middle of the two and gets peppered around my playlists.
Caroline Lavelle (with Thomas Dolby{?}) - Farther Than The Sun (Live) - From the CD “Brilliant Midnight 2.0″

Caroline Lavelle - Dream Of Picasso - From the CD “Spirit”

If you like Fado singers you should check out Cristina, I think she is one of the best. Her Live in Holland CD demonstrates just how good a singer she is.
………………………………….
Cristina Branco - Fado Das Sedes

This is a very interesting and atmospheric release.
Definitely 60’s soundtrack influences going on here, some Dusty Springfield V’s Lee Hazelwood to.
Good stuff.
Candie Payne - I Wish I Could Have Loved You More
Makes me want to watch a Luc Bresson movie…

I am a big fan of Polly. Addicted. I love her passion.
From when I first heard her on the 4-Track Demo CD in 1993 onwards, and still going upwards. Addicted.
“White Chalk” from this year is just lovely. She is on a par with Nick Cave in my book, and that is saying something.
I cannot fault any of her releases, but “Rid of Me” will always have a special place for me, so here is a live version of the title track.
P.J. Harvey - Rid of Me (Live Paris 2004)
……………………………………………….
Totally lovely with Josh on this vid to…
Dessert Sessions 9/10 - I Wanna make it Wit Chu (Live @ Jools Holland)
{The whole Josh Homme driven Dessert Session CD thing is really something worth checking out. I recommend}.

She has one hell of an entry on Wikipedia, you really couldn’t make that stuff up.
Carla Bruni - “Quelqu’un m’a dit” the title track of the current album.
…………………………………..
This is a track from her CD “No Promises”. It’s cute, and good to slip into some playlists…
Carla Bruni - Those Dancing Days Are Gone
