Whale – We Care

Whale - We Care cover

Possibly one of the most important albums to be released in the mid 90′s. The second, and last final, album “All Disco Must End In Broken Bones” is equally impressive.

You can pick up copies of both, and some of the CD singles with extra tracks on ebay. But you knew that.

The GoWhale website has been down for over a year. I miss them.

Kate Nash – Made of Bricks

Kate Nash - Made of Bricks cover

No, she isn’t the Lily Allen clone that everyone thinks. The same fake estate inflection maybe, but very different to Lily. Her live act has more references to Regina Spektor in my opinion.

Whatever… we will all have our own references to any artist. I take Kate as she is, in her own right. The first disc from her is great fun, emotional, deep and totally stands on its own.

Nice one Kate, thanks darlin’

Angus & Julia Stone – “Bella” from the album “A Book Like This”

A very delicate, fragile even, vocal brother and sister duo, although Julia does go a bit Miss Li now and again. The two EP’s and the album from them so far are excellent. The new EP “The Beast” is out now from Rough Trade Records.

WARNING: I gave up trying to find it on the Rough Trade website after 10 minutes… Shame really. You are probably better off phoning them.

A cute little website. However, yet another site where the audio is set to autoplay… When will they learn…

Blonde Redhead – 23

Blonde Redhead 23 cover

Kazu Makino has a voice that some find a bit grating.
I fucking love it.
Excuse my language, but it does it for me.

Lovely work from the boys on the beats as well.

Blonde Redhead – “23” from the album “23

“tween tee fwee…” and the drum kicks in the last movement… outstanding.
