Procol Harem – Salty Dog

procol-harem

I grew up with this classic album, I think my dad still has the wonderful vinyl.
When pop was proper pop.

(Who is the Monk on the Hammond organ?)

Lovely to add to my chilled playlist.
From 2005, but still solid.

Fried – Fried

fried_fried

A blast from 2004. It was reissued in 2007 with a few tracks added and the title altered to ‘Things Change’, so you should be able to get hold of it.
Jonte Short has a fabulous voice that meshes superbly with the musicianship of former Fine Young Cannibals bassist David Steele.

Check out a video on Amazon.

Au Revoir Simone – Still Night, Still Light

au-revoir-simone-still-night-still-light-2009

More lo-fi synth from of Erika Forster (vocals/keyboard), Annie Hart (vocals/keyboard), and Heather D’Angelo (vocals/drum machine/keyboard).
All very calm.

Catherine A.D. – E.P.

catherine-ad-ep

Catherine Anne Davis has a couple of lovely ethereal E.P.s out.
Shades of P.J. Harvey here, but a little softer. Excellent.

Miranda Lee Richards – Light of X

mirandaleerichards_lightofx

Not a sit-down-and-listen-to album this one, but it has been rotating in the background the last few days and a few tracks are real growers.
Overall a bit MOTR for me.

Alessi’s Ark – Notes From The Treehouse

alessisarknotes

Alessi Laurent-Marke, AKA Alessi’s Ark has delivered a wonderfully produced big sounding folksy(?) album with this release. Sometimes big tracks, sometimes little delicate ones. Lovely stuff.
You can pick up the opening track, ‘Magic Weather’, over on her MySpace page.

Sara Lov – The Young Eyes (E.P.)

Sara Lov - The Young Eyes

Delicate tunes from Sara Lov. Her first full album was released in March this year, but I haven’t heard that yet. I look forward to it.
The first post about a singer born in Hawaii I believe.

Soul Seeking – Thumbs Up (E.P.)

Joking, of course this this posts title. I will continue. Thanks for all your passionate emails and posts. Have a massive backlog of Promo’s and newness to get through. Plus I have spent a sad techie day putting the Suggestives + Emails into order… On a spreadsheet.

I did take the week out wondering, souls seeking, but I will not discriminate about labels, it is the artists that we need to care for, and love, and support.

Should this close?

I have put a lot of effort into this blog, and so do my friends.
However it seems that various record companies hate the free promotion I give their artists.
Unlike other sites/blogs I do no file sharing or linking to downloads.
I have always made that very clear.
Unfortunately I cannot name the record company due to legal reasons.

The world is mad.
