A fabulous 3CD release from Joanna.
You can get it physically or digitally (MP3 or FLAC) over on the Drag City website.
Joanna Newsom – ‘Baby Birch’ (Live in Toronto, March 13, 2010 – from the album ‘Have One On Me’
Some delicate electro on this first release from Ninca Leece.
Ninca Leece – ‘The Beast’ (Live) from the album ‘There Is No One Else When I Lay Down And Dream’
This is just fasinating. It works on every level.
Love to see it the whole album live…
Anais Mitchell – ‘Why Do We Build The Wall (Live)’ from the album ‘Hadestown’
Alison Goldfrapp was on Radio 4 Saturday 17th April choosing her inheritance tracks. One she inherited and one she would pass on. She choose to pass on the track ‘Expecting’ from the 1970 debut album from Minnie. And what a belter it is to. Not surprising with a five octave range.
You probably will be familiar with the opening track to this album ‘Les Fleur’ that 4Hero covered on their album ‘Creating Patterns’.
She sadly died of cancer in 1979. What a lose.
I couldn’t find a version of this track online so I played with a few programs on my Mac to give you this.
Minnie Riperton – ‘Expecting’ from the album ‘Come to My Garden’
Natalie has just released a double CD that goes all over the place stylistically.
Some quite full on trad folk tracks, but others toy with sounds from all over the world.
Loads of videos to do with new album over on her website.
Natalie Merchant – ‘Nursery Rhyme of Innocence and Experience(live on WNYC)’ from the album ‘Leave Your Sleep’
Full interview over on WYNC here.
A solid second album from Norway’s Ingrid Olava.
Ingrid Olava – ‘Warrior Song’ from the album ‘The Guest’
A much more rounded release than her 2007 album ‘Oh, My Darling’.
Free MP3 download of ‘Gold Rush’ over on her website.
Basia Bulat – ‘Gold Rush’ from the album ‘Heart of my Own’
Only just heard this 2009 seriously big and upbeat album from Paloma.
Sailing quite close to the edge of Pop, but thoroughly enjoyable.
Paloma Faith – ‘Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful?’ from the album of the same name.
