Alice Gold – Seven Rainbows

Alice-Gold-Seven-Rainbows

Her debut album feels a little rough around the edges, but in a good White Stripes kind of a way. Love it.

Maggie Björklund – Coming Home

Maggie Bjoklund - Coming Home

A rolling tumbleweed of an album from Danish pedal-steel player Maggie.
Her first solo album away from the Darleens, featuring Calexico’s Joey Burns/John Convertino and singers Jon Auer, Mark Lanegan, and Rachel Flotard.

Ennio Morricone – Albert Hall

Aside from my addiction to female musicians, I also am very passionate about movie soundtracks.
By pure chance tonight I put BBC Radio3 on while cooking and there was the Spaghetti Western Orchestra from Australia doing a gig in the Albert Hall.
The main man in the group is an idiot, but some of the Morricone they did are classic.
Check out the BBC3 “listen again”.
It should be up there for a week.

Diane Birch – Bible Belt

Diane Birch - Bible Belt

A lovely summery album from 2009 that I have only just discovered.
She is in the UK currently working on her second release.
Lots of tracks and vids over on her website.
(Apart from the stuff blocked in the UK by EMI. Idiots)
