Angus & Julia Stone – “Bella” from the album “A Book Like This”
A very delicate, fragile even, vocal brother and sister duo, although Julia does go a bit Miss Li now and again. The two EP’s and the album from them so far are excellent. The new EP “The Beast” is out now from Rough Trade Records.
WARNING: I gave up trying to find it on the Rough Trade website after 10 minutes… Shame really. You are probably better off phoning them.

HHHMMM, Feist, Kate Walsh, Catherine Feeny, Joan Osborn (Relish, not the second album – less prolific than ms Bush),Katherine Williams (the single Jasmine Hoop particularly good), Fiona ‘Barking Mad’ Apple, Alison Krauss (just the right side of C & W too avoid arrest by the taste police), Joanna Newsom (Marmite – love or hate!), (some) Leona Naess, Martha Wainwright, Jenny Lewis, Eileen Rose (not everyone’s cuppa) Heather Nova (Oyster, others not so)Katy Carr (if you like a bit of folk) ……..
Classic older female vocals early Kate Bush, early Joni, Joplin, Janis Iain (v underrated, Laura Nyro, Aretha Frankln (yeah, she didn’t write much her self), Ella (see Aretha) … There you go, some a bit mainstream, some artists I love as a whole, others its just a few tracks…
Put Joan Osborne’s ‘Relish’ on 5K of separates and you will curse her for not fulfilling her potential …………….
