This month's suggestives are, in no particular order

Josephine Foster, just the right side of experimental but listenable.

The Knife - brother , sister act with a panchent for wearing crows head death masks whilst performing live- also some of the best videos, check out the web site www.theknife.net (video for the track Silent Shout officially the most disturbing)

Abraham - just one album released in 2000, "Blue for the Most".

Client - girls singing in regional accents way before it was deemed "the way to sell to the masses"!!

A finally , a fella!!!! - Paul Hartnoll's album "The Ideal Condition" draws on the more melodic elements of his time in Orbital and even manages to rope in Robert Smith on one track.

XIX - a New York band whose vocals come from Mimi Goese who has previously sung on a couple of Moby songs. Mimi was also a founder member of the much missed Hugo Largo group from the late 80's. Reminiscent of a lighter Nico, dead pan vocals and done accompaniment.

Bat for lashes not too far away, speak soon.

New Portishead album - Third - madly depressing, just the way I like it.

Sainkho Namtchylak - cos i read "The Wire"!!! best album "stepmother city", tuuvan throat singing like you've never heard before.

This is getting weird. This was one I've my very rare "speculative purchases" last year. Good songs and unorthodox approach.
Very definitely Recommended.

Agreed, this is a quite exceptional album. Reading reviews of Martina's new album, I can't understand the ambivalence and panning this album is getting. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but sometimes its just not very cleverly used!!!
