The much awaited forth album from Katell is out now in MP3 format.
Wonderfully heartfelt.

Katell Keineg- ‘There You Go’ (live) from the album ‘Jet’

I have been thoroughly enjoying this eclectic album from French signer Emily.
A full live gig – 03 February 2009 at Île-de-France, Paris.
Her website seems to be down at the moment, but you can buy the album digitally here. Or the physical CD over at Amazon.

French actress and all around talented girl…
A totally worthwhile album from 2003.
Julie Delpy – ‘A Waltz for a Night’ from the album ‘Julie Delpy’

A wonderfully eclectic release from Dan Levy and Olivia Merilahti.
The Dø – ‘On My Shoulders’ from the album ‘A Mouthful’

A great compilation of songs by the French Ye-Ye style singer Isabelle Marie Anne Gall.
You will know this albums title track from the re-recording by April March that was used in the final scene of Death Proof.
Here is the original from 1965.
France Gall – ‘Laisse Tomber Les Filles’

Morgane Imbeaud sings with Mark Daumail as the French duo Cocoon on this sublime release from 2007.
MySpace with lots of videos
www.soberandgentle.com videos/pics and a short biography in French and English

Released this month is this gem of an album. Miles away from the fun and frolics of her Nouvelle Vague involvement, this is more sultry/upbeat Waits. Nice and dark in places, but upbeat to.
Phoebe Killdeer and the Short Straws – ‘Jack’ from the album ‘Weather’s Coming’

After lots of collaborative work the French singer Angele has her lovely debut album out (well, 2007, but I am just catching up).
It’s a delicately soft affair with her voice perfectly intertwined with the subtle electronica.
A bit Hope Sandoval/Cocteau Twins, but with more balls.
Check out her tracks on MySpace
Her labels website is also worth looking at: Peacefrog. (Audio on autoplay unfortunately) Check out Little Dragon, on the same label. A post on them shortly.

I received this in the post this morning, from Ms Anonymous with a French postmark, how very intringing.
As is this CD.
I love it.
A bit Portishead trip/hop dark.
Check out her MySpace for some tracks.

This is a great chilled album from 2006.
Every track made it to 5 stars on my playlists.
The album was big on collaboration, with Jarvis Cocker, Air and the percussionist Tony Allen.
It will be interesting to see what she does next.

Keren Ann – Lay Your Head Down
Her latest self titled album is totally up to her usual standards
I had not seen this video before, the title track from her 2003 album.
