Lay Low – Farewell Good Night’s Sleep

Lay Low - Farewell Good Night's Sleep

A quite little album with a soft country/folk/blues edge to it.
Nice and relaxing.

Amiina do OMD

Amiina Kurr album cover

Loving them from last year with their sweet debut release Kurr, they have done a version of OMD’s ‘Souvenir in December’ which you can hear over at their website.

Knitted hats-off-to-you girls… Hildur Ársælsdóttir, Edda Rún Ólafsdóttir, Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir and Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir.

Emiliana Torrini says hi

A cute email hit my inbox a few weeks ago, thanks infotaupe.

Ms Torrini’s lastest album Me And Armini is definitely in my top five of 2008.

It gets better, Emiliana is hitting the UK in March 2009.
Deep Joy.

Emiliana Torrini – Me And Armini

Emiliana Torrini - Me and Armini

Emiliana is back with a great new album. I adored her 1999 Love in the Time of Science and the 2005 Fisherman’s Woman. This release builds and improves on both. Excellent.
Be sure to check out her revamped website to get digital and physical versions.

The Sugercubes – Birthday

Sugercubes

It is someones birthday today, and this wonderful track came to mind.
Not the same cover from the 7 inch I had, but heh.

Thank god they re-released this stuff.

Amiina – Kurr

Amiina - Kurr cover

Time for a delicate chill-out album from the Icelandic quartet consisting of Hildur Ársælsdóttir, Edda Rún Ólafsdóttir, Maria Huld Markan Sigfúsdóttir and Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir.

They have worked with Sigur Ros in the studio and live, so that will give you an idea of the sort of chilledness of their work.

Wiki states that “The song “Hilli” was released on December 10, 2007 as the second single from the album Kurr. It is a collaboration between Amiina and Lee Hazelwood whose vocals (the last recording before his death) are mixed with a reworked version of the original song.”
How about that…

Emiliana Torrini – Love in the Time of Science

emilianaloveinthetimeofscience1

I forget how I was introduced to this diamond. Which is a shame. Full respect to whomever switched me on to her. Wednesday’s Child is a track from her fabulous CD Love in the Time of Science which goes from soft and duvet like, to Shirley Bassey Big on the track Telepathy. Her georgous Fisherman’s Woman CD is a total must have also, but more about that later.
