Dot Allison – Exaltation of Larks

Dot Alison - Exaltation of Larks cover

This really threw me after her previous two releases. ‘Exaltation of Larks‘ is really quite nufolk compared to her electronic upbeat 2002 ‘We Are Science‘ and the trip-pop 1999 ‘Afterglow‘ both of which are excellent.

Vocal similes: Liz Fraser but actually pronouncing words, Nicola Hitchcock with less vibrato.

Nicola Hitchcock – “Cloudy Skies & Rain” from the album “Passive Aggressive”

My copy of “Passive Aggressive” arrived in the post this morning, and what a lovely piece of work it is. Thanks Nicola!

Go and buy “Passive Aggressive” direct from Nicola over at her website.
(If you have not guessed, I am very much in favour of buying direct from the Artist.BDFTA :)

You will have heard Nicola previously in the group Mandalay who produced some true classics.
