Scout Niblett – This Fool Can Die Now

This Fool Can Die cover art

I may have done Scout a disservice with my earlier posting about her Kidnapped By Neptune album. As has been pointed out that is a pretty harsh album to start out with by her.

This Fool Can Die Now is a much more accessible, while still wonderfully emotional, set of songs.
Dirty blues.

Four of the tracks are brilliant duets with Will Oldham.

Scout Niblett – Kidnapped By Neptune

Emma Louise Niblett will not be for everyone, but she fits my mood today.
Minimal nasty guitar and some screaming a bit like early PJ Harvey. Lovely.
Lots of vids over on her funky website to enjoy.

I am a big fan of Polly. Addicted. I love her passion.

From when I first heard her on the 4-Track Demo CD in 1993 onwards, and still going upwards. Addicted.
“White Chalk” from this year is just lovely. She is on a par with Nick Cave in my book, and that is saying something.

I cannot fault any of her releases, but “Rid of Me” will always have a special place for me, so here is a live version of the title track.
